12 August · Open after the city cools

What the glass does after six

Palm, arid, alpine, fernery. We open at dusk because some flowers refuse the afternoon.

Sunset through the main glasshouse

Day visitors see a greenhouse. Evening visitors see a machine for holding light.

After six the iron ticks as it cools. The arid house smells like dust and sugar. The fernery smells like a well.

We opened nights because the cereus would not perform at noon. We kept them because people talk differently when the city is a glow behind the glass.

We did not add evening hours as an event. The plants were already working after dark. We simply unlocked the door.
